Early Intervention (EI) Therapy Services

DDRC’s EI therapies provide essential support for infants and toddlers experiencing developmental disabilities. Our highly trained team includes Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) therapists, Occupational therapists, Physical therapists, Social-Emotional providers, and Developmental Interventionists, all working together to promote early learning, mobility, communication, and social skills. Therapy sessions take place in a child’s natural environment, such as their home or daycare, using a parent-coaching model that empowers families in their child’s development. DDRC also collaborates with a network of more than 200 independent contractors to ensure families receive high-quality, individualized support. These services are designed to enhance children’s abilities while helping families incorporate therapy techniques into their daily routines.

How to Get Started

Families interested in EI therapy services can begin by contacting DDRC for an evaluation. The intake process includes gathering developmental and demographic information, followed by an assessment by a multidisciplinary team. If a child qualifies for services, a service coordinator will work with the family to develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) outlining the recommended therapies and support. Therapy sessions are scheduled based on family availability and conducted in a setting that best supports the child’s growth.

Therapies FAQs

How do I know if my child needs EI therapies?

If you have concerns about your child’s speech, motor skills, social interactions, or overall development, an EI evaluation can determine if therapy services are needed. DDRC’s team assesses children based on state and federal eligibility criteria to ensure they receive the appropriate support.

How often will my child need to partake in EI therapies?

The frequency of therapy sessions varies based on each child’s Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Some children may receive weekly sessions, while others may need more or less frequent support. Your service coordinator will work with you to create a schedule that meets your child’s needs.

What happens if my child still needs therapy after turning three?

EI services are available until a child’s third birthday. As your child approaches this milestone, DDRC’s team will help coordinate a transition plan to ensure continued support. This may include connecting families with preschool special education programs, private therapy options, or other community resources
