Housing Choice Program

The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), Division of Housing (DOH) in conjunction with Developmental Disabilities Resource Center (DDRC) will open its Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list for two days starting on Wednesday April 5, 2023. The waiting list is only open to applicants who meet DOH’s local preference of: Individuals with a Disability or Families That Include a Person With A Disability. 2023 Housing Voucher Application

Completed applications will be accepted via mail and email only. No in-person applications will be accepted. Emailed applications will only be accepted between April 5, 2023 and April 6, 2023 between 12:01AM and 11:59PM. Mailed applications must be postmarked between April 5, 2023 and April 6, 2023. Once all applications have been received, they will be placed on the waiting list in a random order.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) provides rental assistance to income-eligible tenants by subsidizing a portion of their monthly rent and utilities and paying it directly to their landlords. In cases where utilities are not included in rent, the program may pay a larger portion of the rent so that the tenant is able to afford utility payments. The assistance provided is the difference between what the tenant pays toward rent (generally 30%-40% of the household’s adjusted gross income) and the cost of the rent.
