State Legislation - Speak Up
Thank You CO General Assembly for Passing HB1407 To Improve Access to IDD Services in CO
May 2018 Update
After consideration and support in the Joint Budget Committee, the Colorado House, and the Colorado Senate, HB18-1407 is now off to the Colorado Governor’s office for a signature. The legislation will:
- Give 300 struggling family caregivers across Colorado a path to getting comprehensive services for their loved one
- Get low-income IDD workers a much needed increase in compensation for doing their critically important jobs of being Direct Service Professionals, which will help promote stability in the workforce, and increase quality of services for individuals and their families
- Funding to make progress toward meeting these important needs is to come from the Colorado general fund, and those funds would be matched by Federal Medicaid dollars
More than 2,000 signed the petition in support of this bill.
