Early Intervention services are available for children from birth to their third birthday.
Where are Early Intervention evaluations conducted?
Early Intervention Evaluations are conducted onsite at our Walters or Admin locations.
What does an Early Intervention service coordinator do?
A service coordinator helps families navigate the Early Intervention system by developing an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), connecting families to therapy providers, ensuring services are implemented effectively, and providing ongoing support and advocacy.
How often will I work with my child’s service coordinator?
Service coordinators maintain regular contact with families, checking in periodically to adjust services as needed and ensure that all developmental goals are being met.
Can my child receive Early Intervention services at home?
Yes! DDRC prioritizes services in the child’s natural environment, such as the home or daycare, to integrate developmental support into daily routines.
How do I know if my child needs Early Intervention therapies?
If you have concerns about your child’s speech, motor skills, social interactions, or overall development, an Early Intervention evaluation can determine if therapy services are needed. DDRC’s team assesses children based on state and federal eligibility criteria to ensure they receive the appropriate support.
How often will my child need to partake in Early Intervention therapies?
The frequency of therapy sessions varies based on each child’s Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Some children may receive weekly sessions, while others may need more or less frequent support. Your service coordinator will work with you to create a schedule that meets your child’s needs.
What happens if my child still needs therapy after turning three?
Early Intervention services are available until a child’s third birthday. As your child approaches this milestone, DDRC’s team will help coordinate a transition plan to ensure continued support. This may include connecting families with preschool special education programs, private therapy options, or other community resources.

Behavioral Health
How does ABA therapy work in the long term?
The goal of ABA therapy for adults is to create lasting change by teaching individuals skills they can apply throughout their lives. We focus on building good behavior patterns, and over time, participants gain the tools they need for increased autonomy and improved quality of life. The progress continues beyond the therapy sessions, making it sustainable in everyday environments.
Who qualifies for ABA therapy for adults?
Services are available to IDD adults with waiver funding or those who are residents of Jefferson County.
How long does ABA therapy for adults typically last?
The length of ABA therapy can vary based on individual needs and goals. Some may benefit from short-term intervention, while others may need ongoing support. Our team works with each person to create a tailored plan that aligns with their specific needs.
What should I expect during my first appointment?
During your first appointment, our team will conduct a thorough intake assessment, which includes gathering information about the individual’s mental health history and current concerns. This helps us determine the most appropriate treatment plan moving forward and ensures we have a full understanding of the situation.
Are psychiatric services covered by insurance?
Many insurance plans cover psychiatric services. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider for specific coverage details, and we can also assist with verifying benefits and help guide you through the process.
How long does it take to see progress with psychiatric treatment?
Progress can vary depending on the individual’s needs and the complexity of the challenges being addressed. Some individuals may see improvements in a few weeks, while others may require longer-term care. Regular follow-up appointments help ensure that treatment remains effective, and adjustments can be made as needed.
How long will my child need to be in ABA therapy?
The duration of ABA therapy depends on your child’s unique needs and goals. Some children may benefit from just a few months of therapy, while others may require several years to achieve their full potential. Progress is regularly assessed, and treatment plans are adjusted accordingly. It’s important to note that the goal of ABA therapy is to equip children with skills that last a lifetime, so many families see long-term benefits even after therapy has ended.
What kind of progress can I expect to see in my child with ABA therapy?
Every child progresses at their own pace, but you can expect to see measurable improvements in key areas like communication, social skills, daily living skills, and reducing problematic behaviors. We celebrate all progress, no matter how big or small, and are committed to tailoring therapy to fit your child’s growth. By involving families throughout the process, we make sure that progress is maintained and reinforced at home and in other environments.
How can I support my child’s progress outside of therapy sessions?
Parent involvement is crucial for reinforcing the skills your child is learning in therapy. We provide parents with training on how to implement strategies at home and in other settings. This might include practicing communication skills, helping with daily routines, or offering positive reinforcement when your child demonstrates new skills. Our goal is to make sure you feel confident and supported as you continue to help your child grow between therapy sessions.
